CCHS Guidelines

CCHS is part of the Albuquerque Public School system and is subject to all APS policies and procedural directives. Students at CCHS are bound by the APS student handbook. As early college students residing on the CNM campus, students are also subject to CNM policies and procedures.

Any student, regardless of where they reside in New Mexico, may apply to attend CCHS. As a magnet school with limited enrollment, CCHS will hold a lottery to determine placement. Students, along with their parents or guardians, who submit complete applications by the deadline will be eligible for the lottery process. Applicants not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.

Step 1: Applying For Admission

In order to be considered for the lottery process, prospective students and their parents or guardians, must submit a completed application to CCHS by the deadline. All applications must be completed online. Parents must email Matt Kraus - kraus_m@aps.edu OR Edith Carreon Perez - alba.carreonperez@aps.edu to request the application link. Please specify the grade in which your student is applying. CCHS will be accepting applications Wednesday, November 1, 2023 - Friday, February 23, 2024.

Step 2: Application Confirmation

Once your application has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours. The confirmation email will indicate your application number. This will be the number used in the CCHS lottery so be sure to keep the number in mind.

Step 3: Lottery Process

The online application will close on Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at 5:00 pm. After all applications have been received and assigned a lottery number, the lottery will take place. Numbers will be drawn at random to determine which students will be accepted. Applicants who are drawn outside of our capacity will be placed on a waiting list. The lottery results will be posted on our website by lottery number approximately 1 week after the list is finalized.

Step 4: Mandatory Orientation

The selected students from the lottery process will be notified via email within one week of the lottery completion. All selected students will be required to attend a mandatory orientation session. The mandatory orientation sessions will be offered March 11, 2024 through March 15, 2024.

Step 5: Accept Or Decline

The mandatory orientation will cover policies, procedures and requirements of CCHS on CNM campus. After students and parents attend the orientation, they will be asked to accept or decline enrollment at CCHS. Students who accept enrollment must do so by signing the "Statement of Commitment" by Friday, March 22, 2023.

Dates And Deadlines

  • November 1, 2023 - Application open
  • February 23, 2024 - Application Closes at 5:00pm
  • March 1, 2024 - Lottery List and Wait List posted on CCHS website
  • March 11, 2024 thru March 15, 2024 - Mandatory Orientation Sessions for Lottery Students
  • March 22, 2024 - Deadline to accept or decline enrollment for Lottery Students
  • May 31, 2024 - Registration deadline for 2023-2024 School Year
